Amazing prices, amazing food! You get chips and salsa before your meal which is great! Also, drinks here are unexpectedly strong and very cheap! I received a free blue shot with my margarita which was delicious! I'd recommend the taco salad and the quesadillas!

So it's hard to find authentic in Peoria IL, but Jimador is one of those places that hits the right spots! For me it's the preparation of the meat, the rice and the beans. Oh and bonus their horchata was right on! The atmosphere was so upbeat and they were playing regaton!! We got to meet the cook who shared a few of his meat prep secrets. Again, it's hard to find authentic in Peoria and I would say their salsa needs work but this place is Mexican Midwestern good!!

I love this place! I live in Chicago, my parents still live in Peoria. Every time I visit I want to go here. I always get the cheese or shrimp enchiladas and a margarita. Their food and drinks are very reasonably priced and I have never had an issue with their service. In addition, the wait times are always fair for seating. Actually, writing this I am really craving some of their food!

It has been about five years since the last time I have been here so I wanted to give it another shot.  Upon entering, the interior decor seemed more festive and welcoming than before.  There is an abundance of seating from booths to tables to even a modest bar area.  It took the server a few minutes to seat us but once she did, we were brought out our complimentary chips and salsa immediately.  Drink orders were taken at once.  The chips were nice and warm, and the salsa was very flavorful.  She even brought us a refill on the salsa since the chips were plentiful.  She came back for our order within a reasonable amount of time.  Now, my guests thought they took longer than most Mexican restaurants to bring out our food.  I thought the wait time was appropriate seeing that it was Friday night and they were closing in a little over an hour.  Pro-tip:  Each person ask for shredded cheese for their meals.  If you enjoy cheese, it definitely is a delicious addition.  The cheesy enchiladas and the chicken tacos my friends ordered were okay.  They both enjoyed it even though they complained it took too long to make.  My Tacos Guanajuato were tasty as well.  The steak was cooked perfectly unlike most Mexican restaurants whose steak tends to be chewy or overcooked.  There was definitely enough filling for three tacos but I wish there was a bit more chorizo.  I could barely find the chorizo; although when I did, it was good.  The tomatillo sauce that came with the meal was good and different.  It is not the best sauce I have ever had but I do give them points for creativity for it being more sour than I am used to.  Their rice and pico de gallo were good too but their refried beans with cheese were a bit bland.  I do have to say that our server did not return to our table after they delivered our food.  This left a sour taste with my guests who were upset that they were putting up chairs around us.  I had to go get my own to-go boxes and check.  My female friend was also upset that a male worker came out of the female restroom (although they were single-person restrooms) but I told her it is 2019 and the male restroom probably was occupied at the time.  I also ordered some churros since they were out of flan.  The churros had a nice presentation but they themselves were chewy, flavorless, and not worth the $3.50 I paid for them.  I would definitely return here, recommend it, and I think this is a nice Mexican restaurant for Campus Town.
